There is something missing on this design, so I’m thinking i should have some other type of visual that breaks up the collage and ads another style, or “designer” feel to it. I call it “DESIGNED DESIGNER” (pretty spiffy eh??)…….. pfffff…. not really, “don’t listen to him, he’s crazy”… what? what did you say?…

……Never mind.

The design strips is what the box will look like with holes cut into the box, as i intend to make it a design feature, showing part of what’s inside.

Although i was trying to have both the rough and refined together, i felt that the design was repeating the whole “draft” thing a little too much. So i decided to combine the two into the same layout, “to try and make it more upbeat” also leaving room for other simple design.

Adding to the idea of something being crafted, i wanted to have something where it was physically put together, not only showing the contrast of work that is moving towards being finished to final product, but showing the rough, raw edge development and idea process.

I have attempted this by creating a hand done collage that consists of all the same elements as the more refined computer drawn (over grey led drawings), that follows in a story line type progression of my use of technology and objects.

 

Progressed idea

Working on the theme of “draft plan” i wanted to base my idea of the visual metaphor of something physically being built or designed, which i thought would be a good chance to so some more hand done artwork in the content.

I also wanted to get across the idea of how using all these past technologies have shaped my path of view of technology and how to use – in terms of my creative output. The idea is that the draft is a kind of “pre-designed draft” for myself as if someone else had to design me.

These are the first designs iv worked on toward the objective: Draft line artwork of all the different forms of technology iv engaged with.
