Project 1 – credo

Introduction:

Technology has always been something that has intrigued me, being born in an age that is much more technologically advanced then when my parents were born. Continuously exploring what things I could find around the house, from Video players, walkmans, mobile phones, old type writers, hand held voice recorders to toys, video games, musical instruments, musical recording devices etc. Computers had always amazed me, starting from the class room of primary school that was my first experience of it. Educational games would normally be played on them, such as the magic school bus. Now that I think about it, pretty much all of things that I have grown up with involve interaction and entertainment.

Why this is important to new future technologies

Interaction with objects and the environment seems to be a crucial part of learning with a lot of us, which makes interaction a very important part of our lives.
As I have found more and more through my years of education in design, interaction and entertainment I think has a strong role embedded into design to make people wish to use things and interact with things. For the way of the future, designers point the directions for which people follow using the power of interaction and entertainment to direct important messages to the public in inviting ways.

Being a designer, it should be a standing point, using interaction and entertainment to create a dynamic with end-users. From the basic almost primitive hands on interaction, to the Technologically advanced using high tech computer software, either way, the transferral of information from something to the person using it will be able to draw something from it.

Focus:

My focus for the project may include all the things that I have grown up with to what I use now, telling the historical story of how interaction between people and objects has evolved, and it’s importance. The content will hopefully explore my contribution to the exploration of interactivity and entertainment.

Target:

Designers, Artists, Employers, Musicians, and others who may not know what design is.

I will try to explain what I think my role as a designer to future employers, and others that may not realise how these interactions impact on our daily lives. This may not just include the physical things that we touch, but should include all elements of which we interact with such as voice, sounds, music (being a musician myself i would like to try and put some of this into the design and feeling of the document).
